Hoback
When traveling south from Jackson, beginning at the point where the Snake River first intersects with Highway 89, the area referred to as the “Hoback” or “Hoback Junction” begins and proceeds southward to the Lincoln County line (heading south) and the Sublette County line (heading southeast). The area is named in reference to its proximity to the confluence of the Snake and Hoback Rivers, with the intersection of U.S. Highway 89 and U.S. Highway 191 adding to the appropriateness of the name “Hoback Junction.” Housing styles and values can range widely in the Hoback area, with the market being an eclectic mix ranging from some of Teton County’s more moderately-priced homes to riverfront or river-proximal homes approaching $2,000,000. The junction itself (confluence of the rivers and highways) is located approximately 12 miles south of Jackson and offers food and food shopping for area residents.
